"You're gonna have failure," says Virginia baseball coach Brian O'Connor in this video.

"In all sports, you're gonna fail a lot. It's just gonna happen."

"Teaching young people how to handle that and how to deal with that is so important."

"We can't protect 'em from it," continues O'Connor. So what can we do to help athletes who are affected by failing, making bad plays, and suffer from the fear of failure?

"Positive encouragement certainly is important but also getting them to understand that this is part of the game and how they manage failure is going to be critically important for them to have success," says O'Connor.

Let's continue to normalize *failure* in youth sports. It's literally a part of the game.
